Governor Generals Camp 2024
In April 2024, Grafton Scout Group eagerly dispatched a contingent of 23 of its most enthusiastic members to Canberra, marking a momentous occasion for the troop. Their journey promised to be nothing short of extraordinary as they embarked on a rare and unforgettable opportunity. Across the nation, Scouts from diverse corners of Australia converged upon the nation's capital, invited to partake in a unique camping experience hosted at none other than Government House itself.
Our dedicated scouts eagerly embraced the adventure that awaited them, ready to immerse themselves fully in the rich tapestry of experiences that Scouting had to offer. From the moment they arrived, the air was electric with excitement as they delved into a myriad of activities meticulously planned to engage and inspire.
Against the backdrop of Canberra's iconic landmarks and scenic beauty, our scouts eagerly threw themselves into a diverse array of activities, both within the confines of their campsite and beyond. Whether navigating the serene waters in sailing expeditions, traversing rugged terrain on invigorating bushwalks, or scaling heights in thrilling climbing escapades, each moment was filled with the spirit of exploration and camaraderie.
But the adventure did not end there. With boundless curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, our scouts ventured forth to explore the cultural and historical treasures of our nation's capital. They marveled at the wonders of science in the interactive exhibits of Questacon and paid solemn tribute to the sacrifices of the past at The Australian War Memorial, each experience leaving an indelible mark on their young hearts and minds.
As they bid farewell to Canberra and returned home, our scouts carried with them a treasure trove of memories and experiences that would shape their understanding of the world and their place within it. Having relished their time at camp. They collectively etched their mark in history by camping on the grounds of Government House.
